See “Chef” Sneak Preview at the State Theatre!

This Tuesday (May 6) at 7:30 PM you have a chance to see Chef at the State Theatre. It’s one of the hottest food movies in recent memory, and Traverse City Film Festival Director Deb Lake says “I saw Chef at Tribeca where it won the Audience Award, and it just may have been my favorite film of the over 40 I saw. It really is that good.”

Chef Movie Food TruckAlthough Chef opens nationally on May 9th, this sneak peak screening through the New York Film Critics Series. This is the State’s first participation in the series that offers you a chance to see it before anyone else and enjoy a post-film simulcast interview with writer, producer, star, director Jon Favreau conducted by Rolling Stone film reviewer Peter Travers.

About the film, Michael Moore writes:

We’re not trying to be political by bringing a movie about food trucks — it’s also about chefs and restaurants! It’s got everything: a romantic, road-movie, father-son buddy comedy with brilliant cameos and top notch performances featuring the amazing food truck scene in Little Havana, Austin, New Orleans, and Los Angeles. Join Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., John Leguizamo, Sofía Vergara, Dustin Hoffman, Jon Favreau, Bobby Cannavale, Amy Sedaris, Oliver Platt, and Garry Shandling to rediscover your passion for life and independent film in this movie absolutely made for Traverse City.

All tickets are $12 and if you can’t make it, don’t despair because they hope to bring it back in the next month or two. You can get more info at the State and watch a trailer along with an introduction by Peter Travers.
