On Saturday, September 27th a brand new event debuts in Traverse City, the River’s End Block Party featuring great music, excellent food, fantastic beer & wine and lots of fun!
The Block Party is hosted by The Cooks’ House, Front Street Tattoo and The Little Fleet and sponsored by a bunch of TC businesses including the presenting sponsor, Golden-Fowler (and eatdrinkTC!). Next Saturday from 1-9 PM they’ll be closing Wellington Street between Front Street and the alley to create a block party celebration. The event benefits the good work of the Traverse Health Clinic and celebrates our local community with a morning motorcycle ride, good food & drink, live music and friendly tug-of-war competitions between local businesses.
They’re bringing in some great bands from around the country with rock & soul from the headliner, New York City’s The London Souls and Bobby Emmett of Nashville. Also on the bill are Ypsilanti based Devil Lock with a tribute to The Misfits, surf punk from Cincinatti’s Fronkensteen and rock from TC’s own Stay Fast.
The culinary center of the event is a pig roast. Jennifer Blakeslee of the Cooks’ House explains, “We’re going to roast two, 200-pound pigs and Myles from Stella will be bringing a goat. To add to that, 25 restaurants will be donating all kinds of sides to go with them. It’s $10 to fill your plate with what you like and 100% of the proceeds go to support the Traverse Health Clinic.”
The list of restaurants is impressive and includes Bistro Fou Fou, The Boathouse, Georgina’s, the Great Lakes Culinary Institute, 9 Bean Rows, Mission Table, Roaming Harvest, Siren Hall, Towne Plaza and Rare Bird Brewpub! The food trucks at The Little Fleet will also be open and serving up good eats. To add to that, New Holland Brewing will host the beer tent and there will also be wine from Black Star Farms.
Jen adds, “We’re hoping to bring the community together for a good time and a good cause, so please join us.”
