Traverse City Wineries

“It’s been like an explosion the last couple of years. They’ve been winning medals left and right, competing across the U.S. and internationally. Beautiful wines are coming out of Michigan.”
~Yolanda Daly, director of the Pacific Rim Wine Competition

The Traverse City region is home to over one-third of Michigan’s 100 wineries and is far and away the premier location for wine touring in Michigan. In addition to the expected varieties for our region like Riesling & Pinot Gris, TC wineries are growing a full range of whites like Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer and also surprising reds including Pinot Noir, Merlot & Cabernet Franc. Grapes aren’t the only fruit either as several cideries are working magic with fermented apples!

There are two wine trails that host trail events regularly: the 25 winery strong Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association and the 8 wineries of the Old Mission Peninsula.
