Comedy Festival turns downtown Traverse City into a winter paradise!

The Traverse City Winter Comedy Arts Festival is doing more than just bringing some top-notch comedians to town. They’re also working with the National Cherry Festival to turn 2 blocks of Front Street into a winter wonderland that’s packed with all kinds of family fun – most of it free!

All Weekend

Comedy Fest SkatingIce Skating Rink on Front
Glide across the ice on a beautiful rink right outside of the State Theatre. Free skate rentals, or bring your own skates.

Ferris Wheel on Front
Peek over the cityscape and take in the frozen winter wonderland below from the best view in town — the top of the Ferris wheel, situated smack dab in the middle of Front Street. Free!

Zip Line on Front
Soar above the 100 Block of Front Street and experience downtown like never before on a zip line. Riders must weigh between 60 and 250 pounds.

Sledding Run on Front
Fly down Front Street on the best snow in town. Snow Tubes are provided.

Frozen Mini Golf on Front
Nine-hole, jewelry-themed ice miniature golf. Make your way around icy obstacles. Perfect for the whole family! Balls and clubs will be provided.

Ice Sculpture Gallery on Front
The artists at Ice Creations who craft Frankenmuth’s ice sculptures are bringing their show north. Win $100 for downtown in the Ice Sculpture Scavenger Hunt

International Ice Bar (Friday & Saturday 7-11)
Drink around the world in honor of the Winter Olympics in the heated Vortex. The Mother Russia ice bar, ice lounge, and ice glasses are not to be missed. Admission is free for anyone with a ticket or ticket stub from one of the festival’s paid comedy shows, and the admission charge for the general public is $5. Drinks (wine, beer, mixed drinks, and ice luge shots) are $5.


S’mores Fire & Ice 6-8 Light up Friday night with the festival’s breathtakingly dramatic “Fire & Ice” display that will invite you to behold the wonders of the natural world, and enjoy a s’more.S’mores from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, fire tower burns from 7:00 – 8:00 pm


Soup’r Bowl Competition Noon-3
Like soup? Don’t miss the friendly neighborhood soup throwdown between a dozen TC restaurants who will be serving up steaming hot soup samples. Vote for your favorite. $8 for 8 samples.

Slip and Fall Olympics 2-3
Sochi doesn’t get to have all the fun. Traverse City Olympians can navigate an icy obstacle course in our own Slip and Fall Olympics. Crash helmets will be provided! The audience gets to participate, too. Register on site.


Frozen Cherry Brunch 9-Noon
Featuring fluffy pancakes, fresh fruit, real maple syrup cherry topping for National Cherry Month, sausage, juice, milk and coffee – what a spread! Chris Cakes, the world-record holder for most pancakes flipped in an hour AND the highest pancake tossed will be doing the flipping! Face painters, balloon twirlers. $4 Kids, $7 Adults.

Hot Chocolate Madness Noon-3
Brew, Poppycock’s, Sorellina, & Kilwin’s. Will be serving up free hot chocolate samples for you to vote on. Pick up your ballot in the main warming tent, chance to win a $100 downtown gift certificate!

Comedy Festival Inspired Specials

Brewery Ferment Comedy Fest special – bring in a ticket to receive $1 off your first pint. It’s limited to that weekend (13-15) and one per visit.

Bee Mine from MorselsMorsels will be staying open until 9pm Friday and Saturday and are creating some special morsels in honor of Comedy Festival including the fig notaro” buttery shortbread with orange zest and fig preserves, “singood” chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, chocolate ganache, and chocolate sprinkles and “rosie o’donut” baked donut hole morsel rolled in cinnamon sugar!

The Little Fleet is holding the Friday Night Comedy Fest Afterparty and rumor has it that Gary has been locked in his secret Caribbean Mixology Base to craft cocktails in homage to some of the visiting comedians. Special cocktails available all night Friday & Saturday.
